Springs Spurs High Country Adventures
Kath and Steve Baird settled in Tawonga with their two young boys Lin and Clay in 1986. They arrived with a truck load of horses and a vision for a family business that would honour the traditions of the High Country horse and offer unique quality visitor experiences. Spring Spur is truly the home of Bogong Horseback Adventures.
The stunning property is located on the beautiful foothills of Mount Bogong, a gateway to the ski fields of Falls Creek, and surrounded by local wineries. Lots of love, dedication and extremely hard work has gone into the creation of Spring Spur, with its operation now being multigenerational. With communal spaces and accommodations built by the Baird family hands, using recycled materials.
Spring Spur will welcome you upon arrival at the Stables for a tour of the working horse property. You will be inspired by the storytelling of Kath Baird and her families experiences of riding through the high country. Stories rich in culture straight from the horses mouth. A pack horse demonstration will also give you a real sense of appreciation of the hard work, grit and determination that high country men and woman experienced in the early years. You will be inspired to rewatch the “Man from Snowy River” movie after a visit to Spring Spur. Undoubtedly one of the most unique and up-and-coming venues in the Victorian High Country.
Following the demonstration, guests will gather in the Riders Lounge where the experienced chefs will offer a delectable variety of Paella for lunch. Everything that is plated is handmade and prepared on site, and sourced from local, ethical and sustainable producers, Spring Spur also has a boutique selection of wine and beers available to purchase..

Army Museum Bandiana

IMPORTANT: Photo Identification is required for entry.

The Australian Army Museum Bandiana provides a leading-edge focus for the interpretation and display of Australia's rich military heritage, with a special emphasis on the history of the Army's Logistic Corps.
The Museum was established in 1976 as the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps (RAAOC) General Museum in its present location. The Museum building is itself unique, in that it is a WW2 era timber framed warehouse, with corrugated iron sheeting. It was constructed in 1940 and very few of these once prolific structures remain.
On the 1st of July 1997, the Royal Australian Corps of Transport Museum, the Australian Army Catering Corps Historical Collection, and the Royal Australian Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Historical Collection were combined with the RAAOC General Museum to form the Army Museum Bandiana.
The Museum was officially renamed Australian Army Museum Bandiana on the 23rd of October 1997. In 1998 the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps and the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps Historical Collections were integrated into the Museum. During 2012/13 the Royal Australian Army Pay Corps collection was added to the Museum.

Hume Dam
A triumph of engineering that was constructed over a 17-year period between 1919 and 1936. Today the dam continues to play a critical role in providing hydro-electricity, and capturing winter rainfall from the Australian Alps and releasing it to regulate the flow of the River Murray.
