Touch Football

Conditions

The Sports Carnival Committee reserves the right to modify or cancel the sport if insufficient nominations are received.

Shield Points

The winner will receive 15,000 points and the runner-up 9.000 points.

Rules

The touch football competition will be conducted under the rules set down by the Australian

Touch Football Association, except where modified by the following:

General

The competition will be run as an open team event with six players per side, with a maximum of ten players per team.

Ladder points

The competition will be played on a round robin basis. Each game will be two halves of twenty minutes each. A five minute break will be allowed at half time. Tries/touchdowns are worth one point each.

Points are awarded as follows:

> win – 3 points 

> draw – 2 points 

> loss – 1 point

> bye - 0 points

In the event of a forfeit (five minutes after scheduled starting time) the team that is available to play shall be awarded the winning points. For the purposes of ‘for and against’ the score line will be five-nil (5-0), or where it affects teams finishing level on the table, an average score will be considered.

Finals

The top four teams after the preliminaries will play in the semifinals with the two winners contesting the final. If broken into multiple pools then the top two teams from each pool will contest the finals. In the event of two or more teams finishing with the same number of points, their positions will be determined on a ‘games for and against’ basis using the results from the preliminary rounds.

Medals

Gold and silver medals will be presented after the finals to the teams competing.
